Planning an office fit-out in Ibadan: a practical guide
What to decide before you sign a lease or call a contractor: space planning, partitions, lighting, furniture and budget for an office fit-out in Ibadan.

An office fit-out is one of the biggest investments a growing business makes. Done well, it helps you hire, impresses clients and makes the working day easier. Done in a rush, you end up paying twice. Here is how we approach office projects for clients in Ibadan and across Oyo State.
1. Start with how your team works, not with furniture
Before we draw a single desk, we ask how people spend their day. Who needs privacy for calls? How often does the whole team meet? Do clients visit, and where should they wait? The answers shape everything that follows.
On Project Smipay we put the reception at the lift core, private offices along the window line and open-plan desks in the bright centre of the floor. Managers got privacy and the team got daylight.
2. Plan partitions around daylight
Many buildings in Ibadan have generous windows. The worst thing you can do is wall them off. Glass partitions with a frosted band give privacy at eye level while letting light travel across the floor. They also make a space feel bigger than it is.
3. Treat the reception as your first handshake
Your reception is often the only part of the office a client sees. It does not need to be large, but it should be deliberate: a well-made desk, a logo wall with good lighting, and somewhere comfortable to sit. See how we did this in a compact room for The Knowledge Hub.
4. Light in layers
A ceiling full of bright panels is efficient, but it rarely looks or feels good. We combine general lighting with accent lighting on feature walls and warm pendants over meeting tables. The result is more comfortable for long working days, and it photographs better too.
5. Budget for the invisible things
Electrical points, data cabling, air-conditioning positions and acoustic treatment are easy to forget and expensive to fix later. Include them in your plan from day one.
6. See it before you build it
We present every office in 3D before work begins. Clients can walk through the space, test layouts and approve finishes with confidence. It is the simplest way to avoid costly changes on site.
